Appleton: Dental Hygienist (2 new positions)

 Position Summary

The Dental Hygienist provides effective care to pediatric patients through varied treatment plans and oral hygiene education.

 

Essential Functions

  • Greet patients, prepare them for services and make them comfortable during care
  • Complete a prophylaxis including the removal of calculus, plaque, and stains from the teeth and beneath the gums
  • Visually examine gums for sores and signs of disease
  • Conduct an extra oral exam to detect swelling or tenderness that could indicate the presence of disease
  • Apply fluoride and other cavity preventing agents to arrest dental decay
  • Apply sealants
  • Chart conditions of decay and disease as requested by the dentist in the electronic patient record
  • Obtain quality digital x-rays
  • Provide clinical services and oral health education to patients, their caregivers and families to improve and maintain oral health
  • Completely and accurately conduct a caries risk assessment and follow up with Best Care Program motivational interview
  • Accurately post transactions in the computer system
  • May administer local anesthetic agents
  • Disinfect, clean, and sterilize work area and instruments
  • Perform weekly and monthly maintenance of autoclaves and other equipment
  • Follow the infection control protocol as outlined by OSHA
  • Attend hygiene meetings and all scheduled staff meetings
  • Review patient chart and medical history forms
  • Assist with stocking supplies, general cleaning, and sharpening instruments
  • Scheduling recall and sealant appointments
  • Conducting hygiene education and/or screenings for daycare, schools, and office tours
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Valid State of Wisconsin Dental Hygiene License
  • CPR certification
  • One year of dental hygiene experience preferred
  • One year of experience working with or caring for children preferred
  • Strong customer service skills and commitment to patient/parent satisfaction
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with and educate parents
  • Must be able to communicate with coworkers and work as a team in order to maintain a steady flow and accommodate patients scheduled within the hygiene department as well as other aspects of the office
  • Good time management skills
  • Exceptional behavior management skills or willingness to learn
  • Good hand/eye coordination, manual dexterity and precision
  • Basic computer and data entry skills
  • Familiarity with SoftDent and Kodak Imaging helpful.

Requires local travel to other First Impressions offices

  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
  • Working Conditions

Will be responsible for working in a dynamic environment with a fully equipped and well-lit office. May be required to stand for extended periods of time. Frequent/Occasional lifting of 10-50 pounds. A need to travel via automobile to the satellite office locations may be required regularly. Although overtime is discouraged, you may be required to work longer hours than the average 40-hour workweek to meet deadlines and the needs of the office.

 

Appleton: Pediatric Prophy Assistant (PPA)

Position Summary

The Pediatric Prophy Assistant assists in providing effective care to all patients within the hygiene department. 

 

Essential Functions

  • Greet patients, prepare them for services and make them comfortable during care
  • Coronal Polishing
  • Apply fluoride and other cavity preventing agents to arrest dental decay
  • Assist in applying sealants
  • Chart conditions of decay and disease as requested by the dentist in the electronic patient record
  • Obtain quality digital x-rays
  • Accurately post transactions in the computer system
  • Help the team to disinfect, clean, and sterilize work area and instruments
  • Follow the infection control protocol as outlined by OSHA
  • Attend hygiene meetings and scheduled staff meetings
  • Review patient chart and medical history forms
  • Assist with stocking supplies, general cleaning, and autoclave/equipment maintenance
  • Schedule routine recall appointments
  • Other duties as assigned

Wausau: Insurance Specialist

 Position Summary

The Insurance Specialist supports the pediatric dental office by handling all insurance aspects of commercial and Medical Assistance insurance types along with communication between the offices, parents and employees in regards coverage.

 

Essential Functions

Commercial Insurance:

  • Dental software (Softdent) commercial insurance verification
  • Update system Bluebook based on insurance verification
  • Calls insurance companies to verify patient enrollment information
  • Contacts patients when insurance is termed, maxed, or missing additional information
  • Enter Softdent personal checks received through the mail
  • Handle insurance contracts and credentialing
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Medical Assistance Insurance:

  • Run unsubmitted claims report daily, correct claim errors, and send out rejected claims
  • Submit secondary claims to Medical Assistance
  • Print, color code, and enter the Medical Assistance Remittance Advice (Check)
  • Figure adjustments, correct denials of Remittance Advice and file
  • Runs and follows up on claims that are outstanding 45/90 days
  • Handle communication pertaining to Medical Assistance
  • Run inactivation reports showing accounts with balances on a monthly basis
  • Run 18-month inactivation report on a monthly basis
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Experience and Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Previous Insurance/claims processing experience
  • Proficient computer and data entry skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong decision making skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • The ability to communicate with parents and co-workers in a responsible and friendly manner.

Wausau: Administrative Coordinator

Position Summary

The Administrative Coordinator supports the pediatric dental office by delivering exceptional customer service and providing assistance to parents/patients in all administrative aspects of the dental appointment.

Essential Functions

  • Answers phone calls and distributes them as necessary or assists party on the line to schedule appointments
  • Require familiarity with our administrative manual, scheduling software, and all functions relating to the administrative position
  • Greets patients in a pleasant manner verifying and/or updating demographics and insurance information
  • Checks out patients, schedules follow up appointments and completes needs of patient/parent and Doctor
  • Scheduling of new patients in a timely, accurate, accommodating, and friendly manner
  • Collect and post patient co-payments and/or appointment payment amounts as noted in computer system per financial/treatment coordinator
  • Generation of Real-Time estimates and coordination of financial agreements for families
  • Check Medical Assistance Eligibility
  • Must be able to complete daily deposit/deposit edge/excel spread sheet for accounts receivable
  • Basic knowledge of the scheduling software Softdent
  • Ability and knowledge to receive, disperse, and send back interoffice boxes and envelopes.
  • Stock office supplies as need
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Experience and Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Previous office experience
  • Proficient computer and data entry skills
  • Strong customer service skills and commitment to patient/parent satisfaction
