Teledentistry

First Impressions Pediatrics & Orthodontics is committed to your safety and health as we continue to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Part of our commitment is to help patients practice social distancing while still providing the care you need.

To do this, we have developed several ways for you to use our Patient Online Services as part of your dental care.

COVID-19 pandemic has changed our lives – and we’re changing our services to continue to provide you high-quality oral health care.

We know “Safer at Home” doesn’t stop your child’s tooth pain or trauma injuries so, we’re offering Doxy.me for virtual medical visits to serve you better. It’s safe, convenient, and easy to use. To get started, you need to make a virtual appointment.

Is Doxy.me safe and secure?

Yes. All visits and patient information are secure and compliant with the HIPAA rules.

Call First Impressions and make an appointment for a virtual telehealth visit.

Set up your appointment by calling 715-842-4649 and request your virtual visit with a First Impressions provider.

After your request, First Impressions will send you a confirmation message with all the details, including a Doxy.me link you can use to sign-in for your appointment. In this period of social distancing, it’s the next best thing to going to your provider’s office.

Do I need anything special to attend a virtual visit?

If you have an Internet connection and a smartphone or a computer running Safari, Firefox, or Google Chrome, you can connect with your provider through Doxy.me.

On the day of your appointment, your provider will send you a text message or email with a link to check-in for your appointment.

If this is your first virtual visit, Doxy.me will ask permission to use the camera and microphone on your device so you can see, hear, and talk to your provider. After you give Doxy.me permission to access your computer’s audio-visual system, you will enter a virtual waiting room. The program will tell your provider you have arrived for your appointment. When it’s time, your provider will start the session.

With Doxy.me, there’s no reason for you to leave your home. You don’t have to worry about sitting in a crowded waiting room with other people – especially in this time of social distancing.

Why did First Impressions choose teledentistry?

We’ve been investigating telehealth for a while now – the recent COVID-19 pandemic prompted us to fast-track this technology in order to keep you, our community, and our staff as safe as possible and still offer you high-quality dental care.

Teledentistry is like a modern-day house call. It’s a secure video chat that complies with all of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) rules. You control who knows about your condition and your medical care.

In this age of social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic, it is one of the safest ways to take care of your child and make sure your family stays as healthy as possible.

What can I expect during a telehealth appointment?

Of course, there are differences between a virtual appointment and an in-person visit. We won’t be able to take x-rays or do a physical examination.

But some things are the same.

You can talk with your health care provider in real-time, just as you would at an in-person appointment. You can tell your provider about your child’s symptoms, condition, medications, and any challenges you’re facing – right from the comfort of your own home.

After our community is safe from the COVID-19 pandemic, you can resume normal in-person visits to our offices (if you choose) but until then, our providers can see you remotely for things such as follow-up visits, check-ups, and check-ins.

What conditions can be treated through teledentistry?

We care about your child’s health and well-being.  You can make a Doxy.me telehealth appointment for things such as:

    • Dental pain or sensitivity concerns
    • Facial swelling/infection concerns
    • Dental/Ortho Consultations
    • Tooth eruption concerns

First Impressions is dedicated to providing you with the best care possible, while being safe and convenient.

Please call us if you have any questions or concerns about your child’s dental health.
